11th Bel120 class... introductory paragraph

The bel120 11th class was held at I309 on Tuesday 21/6/2011.. today we gonna learnt more about thesis statement than before.. before thesis statement must comes with transition.. concluded general statement.. then what the main idea of general statement..


im now in bel120 class learning consolidating language skills with the lecturer Miss Zuraidah.. a.k.a Miss Zur.. thanks to her because teach me with pure sincerity.. XD i felt the learn comes to me when she teach.. i hope that Miss Zur give her bless for her teach to us and hope that we can use all her teach in our life.. in the class.. i use all my concentration for her teach.. first thing first.. the class begin with al fatihah..


Before thesis statement, we must put general statement.. purpose of introduction is to get the readers attention, set tone for the rest of the essay, make a contact with readers mind and heart that what will covered in piece..

  The hook - Design to grab attention immediately and give introduction about       essay topic
  The Transaction - Moves the reader from the hook ( in the midle of introduction)
  Thesis Statement - Main idea of the essay


Type of hook
1.personal example
~incidents happen in our life.. our experience.. honest expressing thought..
~have someone in mind that can be a good model. exp make make ourself inside the essay as it happen to us


2.Quotations (exp: preventation is better than cure)
~content of quote should be: dramatic, emotional appealing, surprising, humorous.. exp practice make perfect
~Quote does not have to be from a someone else it can be yourself exp yourmind can be.. heaven of hell or a hell of heaven...


3.Facts or statistics
 ~ Must be startling of unusual (startling is surprise)
 ~Bizarre,strange,unusual
~Must be in from credible source =>something valid and true.
~use journal as


4.Rheotarical Questions (ask reader in statement without expecting an answer)
~Mix with transaction mis with thesis statement


5.Current Events (latest issue)


6.Contrast to the thesis statement (reflect the main topic as a hook to grab)
~In direct contrast to the thesis statement
~Its fun to prove an expect wrong can hook readers heart..


7.Definition (miss zur says it not interesting and she no encourage us to use it in our essay)
